AV Project Lifecycles

Two complementary views of AV delivery: an AVIXA-aligned performance workflow and the PMI process groups.

AVIXA-Aligned AV Delivery Workflow

Focused on **system performance** and user outcomes — aligned with AVIXA’s emphasis on needs analysis, performance criteria, verification, and handover.

Note: Phases shown are **AVIXA-aligned** for performance-driven delivery (terminology simplified for web).

PMI Process Groups (Applied to AV)

The **PMI** view organizes work as process groups that repeat as needed across the project.

Note: **PMI** groups are cyclical — you may plan/monitor multiple times across the build.

How these views fit together

  • AVIXA-aligned workflow speaks the language of AV delivery: from **Needs Analysis** to **Verification & Handover** with emphasis on performance criteria (e.g., contrast, intelligibility, coverage, viewing geometry) and user experience.
  • PMI process groups describe how you manage any project: authorize it (Initiating), plan it, execute the work, control change and risk, then close and learn.
  • In practice, AV teams often **map both**: AVIXA phases provide the **what** to deliver; PMI groups provide the **how** to manage.
